Tata Bearings

The technology for the manufacture of bearings was obtained from M/s Manufacturing Facilities

Societe Nouvelle de Roulements (SNR), France through a technical collaboration. The collaboration expired in 1986 after which all developments were carried out in-house. All equipment used for the manufacture of bearings are state-of-the-art from companies of global repute. Specialized laboratories with high-tech measuring instruments are available for keeping a close check on the product quality. The division has installed IBM RS6000 servers & is on ERP (SAP).

In 1999 TATA Bearings entered into a technical collaboration with Nachi Fujikoshi of Japan for development and testing of new generation automotive bearings and special application bearings.

Through the years, TATA Bearings has been receiving of prestigious awards as mark of recognition for its often spearheading efforts. (For three successive years, TATA Bearings has won the J. N. Tata Quality Award, the company's most prestigious award for Total Quality Management at the company level). Apart from this TATA Bearings has been the recipient of various prestigious national awards e.g Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award (1996), Golden Peacock National Quality Award (1997 & 1998 Finalist in 2005), Chloride Trophy for TQM by CII (Eastern Region) etc.

In Feb 2000, TATA Bearings launched its TPM activity and became the member of the prestigious TPM club of India (in collaboration with Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance, JIPM). Today TPM forms a part and parcel of the daily activities in TATA Bearings and various improvement projects are under way to improve productivity and cost. TATA Bearings has successfully challenged the TPM Award from JIPM in 2004 and is the only Bearings Manufacturer in India to win the TPM Award from JIPM.
